I keyed random phrases into the title bar of my MAC. The phrases usually consist of terms that interest me. This morning it was &#8220;poetry in the news.&#8221; It flushed out this wonderful column from the NY Times, <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2013\/10\/28\/poetry-and-blogging\/?_r=0\">Poetry and Blogging<\/a> by Paul Krugman.<\/p>\n<p>His article is more of a mini review of a book he is enjoying,&nbsp;<span style=\"background-color: white;color: #333333;font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 14px;line-height: 21px;text-align: left\">Tom Standage\u2019s&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Writing-Wall-Social-Media-ebook\/dp\/B00CIR9856\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1382996007&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=tom+standage\" style=\"background-color: white;color: #666699;font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 14px;line-height: 21px;text-align: left\">Writing on the Wall: Social Media \u2014 The First 2,000 Years<\/a><span style=\"background-color: white;color: #333333;font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 14px;line-height: 21px;text-align: left\">.&nbsp;<\/span>The book defines social media as exchanges of information among people who are affiliated, rather than a top down dissemination of data. I beg to differ. Lyrics are poems, where the music comes first and the words are added later. Real poetry is where the words come first. Some of these poems have music added later, however, the words have always come first.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\n<span style=\"color: #333333;font-family: georgia, times new roman, times, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;line-height: 21px\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\n<span style=\"color: #333333;font-family: georgia, times new roman, times, serif\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;line-height: 21px\">Here&#8217;s a Shakespearean sonnet for a Fall day.
