\n45 might be the real meaning of life, as opposed to 42. Here is a post I copied from someone else, with my notations:
\n“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I’ve ever written. (Here it is)<\/span>
\nMy odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:<\/span>
\nWell I’m not there yet, but if or when I do get there, I would like to be able to write something like this! I also have to believe the writer is a Leo, as am I.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good. <\/span>It truly isn’t fair, but it’s still better than the <\/i>alternative.<\/i>
\n2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. <\/span>A good friend of mine once said, “Start small, but start.”<\/i>
\n3. Life is too short \u2013 enjoy it. <\/span>I’m trying to live more in the moment.<\/i>
\n4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will. <\/span>Cultivate friends, make family bearable.<\/i>
\n5. Pay off your credit cards every month. <\/span>Finally, yes!<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n<\/a><\/div>\n

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself. <\/span>I am practising – keeping my mouth shut. It works most of the time \ud83d\ude42<\/i>
\n7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone. <\/span>I’m not sure about this one. I don’t share my down time.<\/i>
\n8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it. <\/span>Maybe, or he sends snow in May.<\/i>
\n9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.<\/span> OOPS a bit late now.<\/i>
\n10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. <\/span>This is probably true, but I would expand it to pie – all sorts – not to be confused with Liquorice All Sorts.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present. <\/span>I’m still waiting for it to come back and haunt me.<\/i>
\n12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry. <\/span>It <\/i>may<\/i> have happened once, but then I’m a stoic.<\/i>
\n13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. <\/span>So true.<\/i>
\n14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it. <\/span>Nailed it.<\/i>
\n15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye, but don’t worry, God never blinks. <\/span>But I’m sure he hides his eyes, at times.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind. <\/span>I often ask myself, will this matter in 10 years time. If not, forget it.<\/i>
\n17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful. Clutter weighs you down in many ways. <\/span>So true, now if I could only convince the rest of the family of this.<\/i>
\n18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger. <\/span>Maybe, but I have died of embarrassment many times.<\/i>
\n19. It’s never too late to be happy. But it\u2019s all up to you and no one else. <\/span>So true.<\/i>
\n20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer. <\/span>I think I have failed this a few times.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special. <\/span>I still have dresses in my closet, I have never worn. Just waiting for the right occasion.<\/i>
\n22. Over prepare, then go with the flow. <\/span>Always.<\/i>
\n23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.<\/span> I see too many older women wearing purple. I will never do that – now red, red is different.<\/i>
\n24. The most important organ is the brain. <\/span>That’s why I do brain exercises everyday.<\/i>
\n25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you. <\/span>Worth repeating.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?’ OK I say 10 – but life is short, maybe it should be 5.<\/i>
\n27. Always choose life. <\/span>Yes, it’s a matter of whose.<\/i>
\n28. Forgive. <\/span>I don’t think I can ever do this.<\/i>
\n29. What other people think of you is none of your business. <\/span>I know, but sometimes they tell me \ud83d\ude42<\/i>
\n30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time. <\/span>Sigh!<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. <\/span>Time passes and this too shall pass.<\/i>
\n32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does. <\/span>Especially my children.<\/i>
\n33. Believe in miracles. <\/span>Everyday<\/i>
\n34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.<\/span> I wish that were true.<\/i>
\n35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now. <\/span>I like to pick my battles – like the ones I can win.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n36. Growing old beats the alternative of dying young. <\/span>For sure.<\/i>
\n37. Your children get only one childhood. <\/span>This I have never forgotten.<\/i>
\n38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved. <\/span>May I add, ‘the right people.’<\/i>
\n39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. <\/span>Agreed<\/i>
\n40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back. <\/span>In a heartbeat.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n41. Envy is a waste of time. Accept what you already have, not what you need. <\/span>I am trying to do that.<\/i>
\n42. The best is yet to come… <\/span>I sure hope so.<\/i>
\n43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. <\/span>This one is tricky, but I’m working on it.<\/i>
\n44. Yield. <\/span>Merge, notice the bump, left turn only….etc. Signs on the road of life.<\/i>
\n45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.” <\/span>Yes it is.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
