Some books I just couldn’t throw out in my various purges. One of these was my “Pocket Book of Ogden Nash.” I know that most, if not all, of his poems are on-line, but so many of these sites are just lists of titles. You then have to click on the title to open a second page to actually read the poem. Then you have go back to the original list of titles and click on another entry for another poem – you know – a whole lot of clicking going on. With a book, I can just flip through the pages and pick a poem or two very quickly, such as –<\/p>\n

The Perfect Husband<\/span><\/p>\n

He tells you when you’ve got on too much lipstick,
\nAnd helps you with your girdle when your hips stick.<\/p>\n

or<\/p>\n

Reflection On Ingenuity<\/span><\/p>\n

Here’s a good rule of thumb:
\nToo clever is dumb.<\/p>\n

Or I can quickly find one of my favourites –<\/p>\n

The Termite<\/span><\/p>\n

Some primal termite knocked on wood
\nAnd tasted it, and found it good,
\nAnd that is why your Cousin May
\nFell through the parlour floor today.<\/p>\n

Or a poem that’s very short –<\/p>\n

Fleas<\/span><\/p>\n

Adam
\nHad’em.<\/p>\n

Or more extended –<\/p>\n

A Caution To Everybody<\/span><\/p>\n

Consider the Auk;
\nBecoming extinct because he forgot how to fly, and could only walk.
\nConsider man, who may well become extinct
\nBecause he forgot how to walk and learned how to fly before he thinked.<\/p>\n
