Obviously I live a sheltered life.  I have never heard of the performance, “God is a Scottish Drag Queen” before.  One of my knitting friends, Fiona Ellis<\/a>,  posted it to my FB wall. Notice that I said “knitting” friend.  I didn’t say “theatre” friend, or “drag queen” friend or even “Scottish” friend.<\/p>\n

Apparently this review has been wildly popular with the mainstream, so much so that it has filtered down to my very obscure niche area, knitting. I have made a mental note to “get out more,” become more “involved” because, it appears, that life is “passing me by!!”<\/p>\n

Somehow I have missed some subtle transitions somewhere in the heavens. It seems that I have missed the fact that God, according to this post anyway, has taken on a nationality – Scottish and a gender – male.  OK maybe he has always been male, just never ask that question of a feminist.<\/p>\n

So what do we do now? Church of Scotland is the dominate form of Christianity in Scotland – a practice that is somewhat austere, and very spare as far as ornamentation is concerned. This is timely, given the economic crises facing the world. Drag Queen is a little more difficult to deal with. Perhaps the message is a genderless society with all people (men & women) equal and therefore not segregated, or faced with certain expectations.<\/p>\n

Now the topic of the video clip is Whales, with all due respect to Captain Ahab, we need to look at our dwindling bio-diversity. Humour it is. In your face it is. A rude awakening, you bet!! But then to quote from that famous scottish poet, Robert Burns – in  To A Louse<\/a><\/p>\n
