It was a giant red paper clip which Kyle McDonald used to trade up to a house in Saskatchewan. Here is the story from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/One_red_paperclip\">Wikipedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>MacDonald made his first trade, a red paper clip for a fish-shaped<br \/>\npen, on July 14, 2005. He reached his goal of trading up to a house with<br \/>\n the fourteenth transaction, trading a movie role for a house. This is<br \/>\nthe list of all the transactions MacDonald made:<sup class=\"reference\" id=\"cite_ref-bbc_2-1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/One_red_paperclip#cite_note-bbc-2\">[2]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On July 14, 2005, he went to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vancouver\" title=\"Vancouver\">Vancouver<\/a> and traded the paperclip for a fish-shaped <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pen\" title=\"Pen\">pen<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>He then traded the pen the same day for a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sculpture\" title=\"Sculpture\">hand-sculpted<\/a> <a class=\"mw-redirect\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doorknob\" title=\"Doorknob\">doorknob<\/a> from <a class=\"mw-redirect\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seattle,_Washington\" title=\"Seattle, Washington\">Seattle, Washington<\/a>, which he nicknamed &#8220;Knob-T&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>On July 25, 2005, he travelled to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amherst,_Massachusetts\" title=\"Amherst, Massachusetts\">Amherst, Massachusetts<\/a>, with a friend to trade Knob-T for a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coleman_Company\" title=\"Coleman Company\">Coleman<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Portable_stove\" title=\"Portable stove\">camp stove<\/a> (with fuel).<\/li>\n<li>On September 24, 2005, he went to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Clemente,_California\" title=\"San Clemente, California\">San Clemente, California<\/a>, and traded the camp stove for a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Honda\" title=\"Honda\">Honda<\/a> <a class=\"mw-redirect\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Electrical_generator\" title=\"Electrical generator\">generator<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>On November 16, 2005, he made a second (and successful) attempt (after having the generator confiscated by the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_City_Fire_Department\" title=\"New York City Fire Department\">New York City Fire Department<\/a>) in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maspeth,_Queens\" title=\"Maspeth, Queens\">Maspeth, Queens<\/a>, to trade the generator for an &#8220;instant party&#8221;: an empty <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Keg\" title=\"Keg\">keg<\/a>, an <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IOU\" title=\"IOU\">IOU<\/a> for filling the keg with the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Beer\" title=\"Beer\">beer<\/a> of the holder&#8217;s choice, and a neon <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Budweiser_%28Anheuser-Busch%29\" title=\"Budweiser (Anheuser-Busch)\">Budweiser<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Neon_sign\" title=\"Neon sign\">sign<\/a>.\n<div class=\"thumb tright\">\n<div class=\"thumbinner\" style=\"width: 222px\">\n<a class=\"image\" href=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/b\/b4\/Red-paperclip-news-1.jpg\/220px-Red-paperclip-news-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"thumbimage\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/b\/b4\/Red-paperclip-news-1.jpg\/220px-Red-paperclip-news-1.jpg\" height=\"200\" width=\"220\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"thumbcaption\">\n<div class=\"magnify\">\n<a class=\"internal\" href=\"http:\/\/bits.wikimedia.org\/static-1.22wmf13\/skins\/common\/images\/magnify-clip.png\" title=\"Enlarge\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/bits.wikimedia.org\/static-1.22wmf13\/skins\/common\/images\/magnify-clip.png\" height=\"11\" width=\"15\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Kyle MacDonald&#8217;s house<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>On December 8, 2005, he traded the &#8220;instant party&#8221;
