The weekend papers always provide some interesting and esoteric reading – nothing compared to the British “Sunday” papers – but still good. So, I loved reading a discussion, in the Toronto Star, of the King James version of  The Bible <\/a>which is still considered the gold standard, not just, for Christian beliefs, but also, for the study of imagery, poetry, narration…the list goes on.<\/p>\n

I particularly liked a piece by Heather Mallick who was comparing a “sexy” bit in the Song of Solomon to music by the “Stones”. This is the quote she used –<\/p>\n

“Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even and shorn………” I am sure that this has nothing to do with “woolly mouth” – that feeling in your mouth, the morning after a great party! I guess teeth have changed over the years.<\/p>\n

My favourite from the Song of Solomon is: “I am the Rose of Sharon, and the Lily of the Valleys.” I have tucked this away as an inspiration for a lace shawl design one day.<\/p>\n

Anyway here are my knitting takes on the passage – great sweaters with sheep motifs in either classic fair isle or intarsia – all worn by smiling people with great teeth!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

The rest of the passage reads: <\/p>\n

I’ll leave ewe to figure this one out. If it’s about teeth, one may need some serious dental work. Anyway, I still love the way knitting is connected to so many things and I apologise for any seeming irreverence. It’s a wonderful article on something that was written almost 400 years ago and still surpasses it’s “updated versions.”  Enjoy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
