It’s October and time to bring in our stores for winter. I did this today. I bought yet another poetry book. Well this one is slightly different in that it has 366 poems – one for each day of the year plus one for leap years. I love it.
I spent most of the day reading the poems assigned to significant days – birthdays, personal days, Christmas.
I also flipped through to find some of my favourite poems – yes Jabberwocky is in there, as is He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven.
I will now never be at a loss for a poem to live on any given day. In fact for my birthday the poem “They are not long” by Ernest Dowson contains the line:
“They are not long, the days of wine and roses”

And today I struggled first to find and then to send pictures of my lace work to a friend. Finally I was able to enjoy again Red Roses shawl in wine red, which I will email to that friend.
So happy to live again certain days, certain creations and certain life cherishing forces.
