The Joy of Routine

This week was the usual Ho-Hum. I managed 3 consecutive 10kms walks – Thurs. Fri. & Sat. The weather was sunny and lovely. Some people were wearing just shorts & T-shirts – c’mon it never got above 7ÂșC. I don’t count this as summer. Still I love that there are people, out there who defy the elements – a little insane maybe, but interesting.

I finished three books this week and started on my last Camino book, Pilgrim by Carolyn Gillespie. What will I do when I run out of them? Maybe I’ll just have to write one. I have a bit of a head start in that I have written 15 posts on the Camino alone. They are uploaded to my new website – www.caroltomany.com. It is still a work in progress, but I am hoping to have it finalized before I start my walk in April.

My son put away all the summer furniture, so outside, we are bedded down for the Winter. I spent a day adding songs from my favourite CDs to my phone. I listen to music, when I walk. It’s what drives me forward.

I’ve also started labelling whatever I am taking with me to Europe, partly to deter theft and partly to identify what I might have forgotten in one place and have it forwarded to another place. The Camino is kind.

I’m seriously thinking of signing up again on netflix. Several people have raved about the film version of the book – All the Light We Cannot See. I think I’ll read the book first and then see the series. I am such a fundamentalist, (in a practical rather than a religious sense) I do hate it when things are changed.

My Joy for the Joy Jar this week has to be the comfort of the predictable. When I see in the newspapers the chaos of the world around us. I say a little prayer for my sometimes boring routine. There but for fortune go you or I.

Enjoy a predictable week.
