So much depends
upon
a red wheel
barrow
glazed with rain
water
beside the white
chickens
William Carlos Williams
Today will be one of those all day rains. I’ll sit in my big chair and do some needlework, two crossword puzzles in the Saturday paper and idle on Facebook. I’m glad I took some time early to look for poems on rain because I found one of my favourites.
Today I will live this poem –
So much depends upon
A big comfy chair
Worn with age
Beside the white orchids

Some days are just like this. Immobile, grey, pensive, filled with little activity except the movement of a needle, the penciling of letters or the sigh of the house bound. Tomorrow the sun will shine.
