Yesterday I raked leaves. It was August 25. A little soon I thought for Fall. We have almost a month left of summer so why the leaf meal?
Dolly Parton died today and the world wept for a country singer with a heart of gold.
It was just another reminder that “tempus fugit.” I wrote three posts today as I caught up on the poems I have been living – trying to pack as much in before the axeman cometh – maybe.
Raking leaves in August suggests an early winter – sigh. I think I have to walk tomorrow to savour as much of the last days of summer as I can.
The picture – golden groves of leaf meal gilding my walk last fall. Soon I will plant daffodil bulbs and listen to Christmas Carols on my walks, as I wait for spring.
The title of the post echoes the title of another poem that I often quote with different words, “Today We Have Naming of Parts.” It raises the mundane to the sublime at times.
