The Owl

Another poem from my new anthology. I’m not sure I actually lived this today but then I don’t live on a farm and they have milking machines now!

However, I did think that the owl could be a metaphor for old age. You know “bats in the belfry” etc. Well he is white and a symbol of wisdom 😊 And there is that troubling book about death “I Heard the Owl Call My Name”

So I work at keeping my wits about me – at least what I have left of them.

The picture is the owl, Hedwig, from Harry Potter rendered in fibre and thread for my daughter’s quilt. Owls do have a bit of magic about them.
