Less is more…

Three articles in a row on a similar theme usually means that someone is trying to tell me something.   First there was the book review of a new book entitled The Book of Marvels by Lorna Crozier. It’s a book of essays on household items – relating them to life. Something like… a bowl can […]

Summer in the City

The evenings are still very warm.  You can leave the house with sandals, shorts, T-shirt and never have to think about a sweater or a cool breeze causing a chill.  I know this will come soon enough; but I am  a hot weather person, so I need to stock up!! Winter is long and cold.

A little night magic….

One of the nice things about being a little removed from this earth is that you can identify with the unusual and the paranormal.  Maybe this is why I like this picture. The photo is for the heading “shapes” in the latest scavenger hunt. One of these shapes is the moon.  Now anyone who has

Marking time…….

OK, I have to wait until I get a few more pictures that are appropriate for the few remaining stitches in the Found Poetry of Knitting Stitches, so I’ll just coast a bit here. We plan on doing some kayaking on the Jordan river where it empties into Lake Ontario, so I am hoping to

Tea Time at the Diner…..

Maybe an unlikely spot for a cuppa tea – lots of Java no doubt – but quintessential British tea – maybe not so much!! Another heading in my photo scavenger hunt is “time.” I came across this beauty in one of the home decor shops on Mt. Pleasant. This shop always has the most amazing

A Pansy Scheme…?

I am in another photo scavenger hunt – always a diversion. My second photo in the hunt is for the heading “Face.” I was out for an early morning walk and came across these adorable “faces.” Pansy “Faces” They reminded me of a knitting designer whose work I absolutely LOVE – Susan Duckworth. I tried

A Sheep Share….

…not a sheep shear.  Here is a picture taken by one of the people in my Photography network.  His name is Sideshow John and his facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/slideshow.john I thought that it was just too perfect, so I asked him if I could post it on my blog and he said “of course.” Anyway,

The Tree Scarf….

When is a tree a scarf?  When it is turned into one.  I was out for a walk yesterday for about 5 miles – getting ready for “The Way” – not sure it will happen; but I’m keeping the dream alive.  Anyway there were some awesome trees along the way that have to be turned

Family time

This is what I posted for “family” in the photo scavenger hunt.  They are in the little Estonian deli near where I work. We haven’t had a substantial snowfall yet so no “real” snowmen. But these are pretty cute. It always amazes me how different cultures interpret similar things. These are presumably a northern European

Let there be lights

This is what I posted for Lights in the photo challenge.  It’s the cedar tree in front of our house, that we decorate every year with blue lights.  Actually, the tree is one of those “things” that just happened.  We once had a spreading cedar bush there and had to move it – taking up too much space – didn’t
