Rumpelstiltskin

My previous post was about Alchemy – the art of changing something worthless into something valuable, such as gold. There is, of course, the old fairy tale about the spinner who needed to turn straw into gold. Magically an elf heard her cries and offered to give her that power, in exchange for her first

The Occupations Myth….

I know that it is easy to have preconceived ideas about people in certain occupations. For one thing it makes life easier to believe that doctors exist to heal, teachers live to educate and writers strive to create, chronicle and/or entertain. However, we have all met doctors who are artists, teachers who are entrepreneurs and

Diamonds in the sun…

More on seeing what isn’t there.  Here is a picture I took this summer after some rain.  It’s a spider’s web with rain drops. I think that it looks like lace with beads. My photography group, which anyone can join with any type of camera, is doing some interesting postings in black and white.  I

Odin’s Eagles

Odin was a powerful god in Norse mythology. He governed the realms of wisdom, cunning, sorcery, and death. Just like Zeus, Odin had the power to transform himself into various creatures, which enabled him to wander about the earth undetected. Interestingly enough, both gods often chose bird forms, as disguises – perhaps to make a

Cloisters

The first stitch I posted a picture for was the Cloisters. I really just looked at the stitch and admired how it resembled the arch of a cloister.  Here is the stitch again. I have since then done some research on cloisters to add a little more meaning to the stitch. Cloisters are essentially covered
